ESTRANGEMENT: E.C. Presentation on Karl Marx's "Estranged Labour")---Marx set to music!

He spends his days working
On minimum wage
He's come to hate what he creates
But that's not for him to say

The work is drilled into his bones
Each action but a cruel joke
He's just a small part of the whole
Apathy is all he knows

Pushing buttons, serving men
That's the way his days are spent
He's just a cog in the machine
An animal of apathy

Society was meant to be
More than black and white
You think you can control us
Well, go ahead and try
We've been numb for far too long
It's time to resurrect
The fire that we used to be
We'll burn away this awful estrangement

He can't remember laughing
Or running wild and free
His bones are cold, he's all alone
The machine is all he sees

Fueled by your greed, your insatiable need
His days are burned away
You're the source of misery
The reason he's a slave

Pushing buttons, serving men
That's the way his days are spent
But now it's time to break this machine
We won't give in to apathy

CHORUS

Enough is enough
We can't take (this) much more
This alienation
These strangers at our door
This system was broken
Before it began
We can't take this horror
And without us, you'll collapse

CHORUS 2x
